I have been interrupted attempting to watch a movie during the Lookouts fireworks display and it really is ridiculous. There are 2 issues I see. 1) there is no reason why a fireworks display can't be engineered to avoid over-smoking a particular area. Aim higher, shoot in a different direction, etc. And 2) there should be an allowed override of the emergency fire system at the theater to allow the movies to resume once everything checks out. Or the theater should avoid showtimes that conflict with the display.
Either way, the 2 venues need to work something out to prevent this in the future.
This needs to be kept on the front page of every newspaper, news show, internet feed until the oil is cleaned up. The worst thing that can happen is if people get used to it or forget about it.
I'm not so sure that charging parents to pay for school lunch is a good way to ensure fewer unpaid charges. I've looked around on the MealpayPlus website (http://www.mealpayplus.com) and can't seem to see exactly how much they charge per deposit.
I agree that knowing when your child is out of money is tricky since no bill or anything like that is ever sent. I would suggest a simple system that emails the parent whenever the account drops below 5 lunches or so. Then we can send more money that week. As a parent, I'm always weary of companies that offer critical services at "no charge" to the school or district. Guess who gets the charge.
I just got a ticket in the mail for "failure to stop" at a red light. With the ticket came two pictures: one of the vehicle at the white line, and one of the vehicle almost out of the picture. I was turning right on the red light at Dayton Blvd and Ashland Terr. Without seeing a video showing that I never stopped, I don't see how I can get a ticket for "failure to stop" from 2 photographs. Also, I need to know whether or not the decision to ticket was made by a human watching the feed or if a computer made the decision. I will be disputing the ticket.
Signal still No. 2 in Class 2A
Seriously! Has anyone that works at the paper even looked at the layout of this article. Crosses and paragraph marks? Throw a decent table up, please.

Chattanooga: EPB says fiber optic network moving fast
I can't wait. Finally some competition for the cable/internet monopoly around here.

We had a few flurries this AM on Signal.
Hamilton County: Schools face even bigger budget shortfall this year
Can they explain exactly what caused the shortfall? I'd rather hear that before they discuss what to cut.

Everyone, please, call your representatives. If they don't know how we feel, how can they know how to vote?
