
LaFAYETTE Louis "Butch" Strickland Jr., 66, a lifelong resident of LaFayette, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010.He was born in LaFayette on Feb. 10, 1944 to the late Louis Strickland Sr. and Lela Irene Strickland. Butch was of the Baptist faith, retired from Shaw Industries after 26 years of service, and he treasured the time that he devoted to the Boy Scouts of America serving 23 years as Scout Master with Troop 125 in Rock Spring, Assistant Scout Master with Troop 15 in Rock Spring, and former Scout Master with Troop 1 in LaFayette.He also served as a former vice president of the Rock Spring Athletic Association and as a baseball coach for many years.He was also preceded in death by his brother, Richard Strickland.Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 36 years, Nancy Hickey Strickland, of LaFayette; son and daughter-in-law, Eric Scott and Pam Strickland, of Franklin, Tenn.; granddaughter, Sloane Strickland, and many other loving family members and friends.Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. today in the funeral home chapel with Boy Scouts of America Chaplin Jim Bowen officiating.Interment will follow in LaFayette Memory Gardens.In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to Boy Scouts of America Endowment Fund at 6301 Lee Highway, Chattanooga, TN 37421, 423-892-8323.Online guestbook available at www.wilsonfuneralhome.com.Arrangements are by the LaFayette Chapel of Wilson Funeral Homes, LaFayette.
