Samuel Asbury Conner II, 86, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at his home.Sam is a World War II U.S. Army veteran and was formerly employed as a supervisor at DuPont. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and a long standing member of Northside Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder and Deacon. Sam was an active member of the Chattanooga Half Century Club and a graduate of the 1941 class of Chattanooga High School.Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Conner; his father, Edwin Forest Conner; and his mother, Maude Selman Conner, of Chattanooga.Survivors include his two daughters, Libby (WJ) Conner Hydrick, of Atlanta, Cathy (Steve) Conner McIntire, of Nashville; two grandsons, C. Marshall (Jane) Beckham III and their daughter, Elizabeth Ann Beckham, of Charleston; and grandson, Matthew (Jenny) Conner Beckham; and son, M. Conner Beckham II, of Signal Mountain; sister, Bettye (Fred) Seepe, of Chattanooga; nieces and nephews; and a dedicated and loving team of caregivers, Linda and Belinda.Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Sept. 3, 2010, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with the Rev. Christy Bonner and Rev. Ben Skidmore officiating.Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at Northside Presbyterian Church, 923 Mississippi Ave., with Rev. Christy Bonner and Rev. Ben Skidmore officiating.
