
LaFAYETTE Joseph "Joe" Donald Fulmer, 64, flew into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010.He was a lifelong resident of LaFayette. He was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation after 34 years of service. During his retirement years, he enjoyed serving his community by working at Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home and substitute teaching in area elementary schools. He was an active member and deacon of First Baptist Church of LaFayette. He loved to hunt, fish, play golf and spend time on his farm, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, Louin and Bonnie Tucker Fulmer. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Marilyn Harness Fulmer; children, Cindy and Tommy Langford; grandchildren, Laura McKinley, Emma Pierce and Thomas Grant Langford, all of LaFayette; brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Georgene Fulmer, of Manning, S.C.; many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. today, Sept. 3, 2010, at Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of LaFayette with Dr. Todd Gaddis and Rev. Ken Waddell officiating.Graveside services will follow at LaFayette Cemetery.Pallbearers will be Bud Chapman, Glenn Clark, Jimmy Ford, Doug Hegwood, Bob Hood, Max Morrison, Nick Perkins and Guy PopeHonorary pallbearers will be the deacons of First Baptist Church, members of the Dannis Hood Sunday School class, co-workers and retirees of the Georgia Department of Transportation, and employees of Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of LaFayettes Enhance the Vision/Baptistry Fund, 201 North Main St., LaFayette, GA 30728.The arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, of LaFayette.
