DUNLAP, Tenn. — Notre Dame missed District 7-AA's baseball championship by two runs, losing out to Signal Mountain on run differential, but the Irish got their second straight 7-AA postseason title Tuesday with a 6-3 victory over the Eagles.

Reese Phillips has never flinched under center in a football game, but baseball is a different story -- or at least it was once.

Signal Mountain hopes to throw wave after wave at Trinity Christian Saturday in Cookeville when the two play for Tennessee's Class 2A football championship.

Signal Mountain’s dominance in high school football has earned statewide recognition, and now two of the school’s seniors have earned individual acclaim. The Eagles have finalists in both the Class A Mr. Football Back and Lineman of the Year categories, with quarterback Hogan Whitmire and linebacker Gervell Morgan.
