A recent study published in the Archives of Surgery found that the number of general surgeons is declining. Many surgeons are deciding to switch to less demanding, better paying medical specialties, rather than keep up with the demands of the general surgeon lifestyle.

According to the Tennessee Department of Education, more than 40 percent of school children statewide are overweight or at risk of being overweight. Russell Cliche hopes to change that. As director of the coordinated school health program for Hamilton County Schools, he and a team of school nurses since September have been recording the height, weight and blood pressure of about 2,000 local students.

Construction workers topped off BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee’s new downtown Chattanooga campus on Thursday by ceremonially placing a tree atop the final structure to be completed. The ceremony marked the completion of work on the concrete shells of the five structures on Cameron Hill.
