A single-vehicle crash in Polk County claimed the life of a Blairsville, Ga., man late Friday night.
James Cearley, director of East Polk Fire and Rescue in Ducktown, said the wreck happened just before 11:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 64 east of the Ocoee Whitewater Center.
He said the driver apparently lost control and the car flipped and landed on the guardrail. The driver was pinned in the car.
THP spokeswoman Dalya Qualls identified the driver as Michael D. Kinnett, 59, of Blairsville. The THP report said Kinnett was driving a 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora and was not wearing a seat belt.
