Memphis' Sheldon Dawson says he'll sign with University of Georgia

Sheldon Dawson, ranked among the top dozen cornerback prospects nationally by Scout.com, committed to Georgia on Monday.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder from Ridgeway High in Memphis became the 17th commitment for Georgia's 2012 signing class and would be the fourth Volunteer State prospect to join the Bulldogs in the past four years. Dawson is rated the No. 11 cornerback nationally by Scout.com and the No. 27 athlete prospect by Rivals.com.

After committing to Memphis last July, Dawson opened up his recruitment and picked the Bulldogs over Ole Miss.

Georgia's scholarship players from Tennessee this past season were junior receiver Marlon Brown, redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Austin Long and freshman offensive lineman Hunter Long. Dawson would give the Bulldogs four Memphis-area players.
