John Lennon has resigned as Signal Mountain's wrestling coach, effectively immediately.
Lennon said school principal Dr. Tom McCullough had accepted his resignation and that both planned for him to remain as the head of the school's theatre department.
A two-time state champion at Cleveland in 1980 and 1981 and a former state tournament outstanding wrestler award winner, Lennon moved to Signal from Notre Dame where he had served as an assistant for several years.
"There was a conflict with the administration over the discipline of a young man and I felt strongly about it," he said. "It was a bad situation and I couldn't in good conscience continue in that type situation."
