Driver killed in head-on crash in Canton, Ga.

CANTON, Ga. — Authorities say a 30-year-old man has been killed and four people were injured in a head-on crash in Cherokee County.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the wreck occurred shortly after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on Bells Ferry Road.

Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Jay Baker says an on-duty deputy attempted a traffic stop on a Pontiac Grand Prix, but the driver did not stop and fled the area.

Cherokee Fire spokesman Lt. Tim Cavender says the driver of the Grand Prix was killed after striking a Chevrolet Colorado pick-up truck. Two passengers in the Grand Prix were injured along with the driver and passenger of the pick-up truck.

Investigators say the four injured people were taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital. None of the injuries were believed to be life-threatening.
