NASHVILLE — Gov. Bill Haslam announced today the appointments of seven new members, including four Hamilton Countians, to Tennessee’s three higher education boards.
Vicky Gregg of Chattanooga, chief executive officer of Chattanooga-based BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, was named to the University of Tennessee Board of Trustees. She will represent the state’s 3rd Congressional District on the board.
Victoria Steinberg of Hixson, an associate professor of French at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, will serve as the nonvoting faculty trustee on the UT Board. She joined UTC’s the faculty in 1996 and received her master’s degree and Ph.D. in Romance languages and literature from Ohio State University.
Named to the UT Board as a nonvoting student trustee, was Shalin Shah, a Chattanooga native and UTC senior studying political science. Shah previously served as UTC’s student government president and parliamentarian. He is a 2009 graduate of the Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences.
Ashley Humphrey, of Soddy-Daisy, a senior studying accounting at Tennessee Technological University, will represent students on the Tennessee Board of Regents. She currently serves as vice president of TTU’s Student Government Association, Relay for Life team captain and was selected as a student member of the TTU’s Presidential Search Advisory Committee.
She graduated from Soddy-Daisy High School in 2009.
Other appointees include Evan Cope and Adam Jarvis, who will serve on the Tennessee Higher Education Commission. Jarvis is a student representative. Dr. Bob Raines, an associate professor of psychology at Jackson State Community College, was appointed to the Tennessee Board of Regents as a faculty representative.
The governor also reappointed Greg Duckett and Emily Reynolds to the Tennessee Board of Regents, and Charles Wharton to the UT Board of Trustees.
