A man convicted this summer of breaking into a fairgrounds building and stealing several industrial-sized rolls of toilet paper was sentenced to four years in prison today.
Percy Johnson, 41, might have gotten probation, but for his 28 prior criminal convictions.
Johnson and another man were arrested on Oct. 7 last year after they were seen breaking into the Creative Arts Center near the Pipkin Building along what is now Tiger Lane at the old Mid-South Fairgrounds.
A city employee saw them coming out of the building with armfuls of toilet paper and called police. There was no testimony in the July trial on what the men planned to do with the rolls.

Well, McRand, that's the lunacy of America's justice(injustice) system. Mom dispose of baby in woods, tells mulitple lies and no one still doesn't know how she died. Mom becomes an overnight celebrity and walks. Man steals toilet paper and gets 4 years? Even with 28 priors, of likely most misdemeanors, it doesn't make sense.
