Volkswagen officials said today that the first cars made at the Chattanooga plant for sale to customers will take place in March.
Frank Fischer, chief executive of VW's Chattanooga operations said the cars will likely be delivered to dealers in April and May.
The new Passat will go on sale in the third quarter of this year.
He also said the hiring at the plant is now more than 1,400 people. He said the company has received 85,000 applications for the more than 2,000 jobs to be filled at the factory.
