Cursing can act as a form of pain relief, according to a study by Keele University in England published this month in the American Journal of Pain.
A caveat: Persistently profane persons — those who swear as much as 60 times a day or more — see less benefit from blue language as opposed to those who curse just a few times a day.

this article is from a college in England,that right there speaks for itself.
But not on Sundays though. Drinking and swearing are not allowed round these here parts.

While the article specifically addresses the Keele University study mentioned above (though it references a study published two years prior in the journal NeuroReport), there are many experts that agree with the study. Harvard University psychologist Steven Pinker addresses this issue in his book The Stuff of Thought.
