Chattanoogans avoid car crashes!

We’ll have to admit surprise — a very welcome surprise: Allstate Insurance Co. has reported that among motorists it insures in America’s 200 largest cities, Chattanoogans — yes, Chattanoogans — rank second, behind only residents of Fort Collins, Colo., for having the lowest rate of car crashes!

Can you believe it? Well, we like it. Keeping cars apart on the streets and highways saves car owners money — and keeps our insurance rates down.

Car owners insured by Allstate had automobile accidents involving property damage 22.7 percent less often than all U.S. drivers.

That was calculated as being nearly 13 years between accidents for a typical Chattanooga driver.

Let’s keep our cars apart — instead of needing new parts for repairs as a result of wrecks.

That means more personal safety — and it saves lots of bucks, too.

We all know the traffic rules. It pays off when we follow them.
