Chattanooga police are investigating a shooting and stabbing early Wednesday.
About 2:45 a.m. police went to 1713 Wheeler Ave., where a man was found with multiple stab wounds and another had been shot, said Sgt. Jerri Weary, a Chattanooga Police Department spokeswoman.
Sophia Jones of 1713 Wheeler Ave. told police that Antonio Wright, 37 entered her home and put a knife to her throat, according to Lt. Kim Noorbergen, another Chattanooga Police Department spokeswoman. She yelled and her nephew Darrick Pointer came to help her, Lt. Noorbergen said.
Mr. Wright and Mr. Pointer began fighting and Mr. Wright stabbed Mr. Pointer several times, Lt. Noorbergen said. Ms. Jones then shot Mr. Wright in the torso, she said.
Mr. Wright took the gun from Ms. Jones and struck her on the head, according to Lt. Noorbergen. Ms. Jones got away and called police, she said.
Mr. Wright was found behind a home on North Chamberlain Avenue and taken to Erlanger hospital. He is facing charges of especially aggravated kidnapping, aggravated domestic assault, especially aggravated burglary and attempted first-degree murder, Lt. Noorbergen said.
Mr. Pointer is being treated at a local hospital and Ms. Jones has been treated and released, according to police.
