Police car the bulldog chewed up.
A local woman was cited today by McKamey Animal Center after her bulldog attacked four cars, including two police patrol cars, according to Chattanooga police.
While running radar at 1410 Workman Road, Officer Clayton Holmes reported he felt his car shaking and upon investigating he found the bulldog chewing on his patrol car, said Officer Rebecca Royval, police department spokeswoman. The dog reportedly chewed two tires and the entire front bumper off the car, she said.
The dog also attacked two cars belonging to private citizens driving by and a second police car that arrived on scene, Officer Royval said. Officers used pepper spray and a Taser on the dog, but could not stop it, she said.
Personnel from McKamey Animal Center captured the animal, along with two other dogs that were all kept inside the fenced property at Mann’s Welding. Nancy Emerling, the owner of the dogs, was cited by the animal center and all three dogs were removed from the property, Officer Royval said.

Now that's taking a bite out of crime.
Best. Comment. Ever.
OK, looking at the patrol car...how can you not realize there is something eating your bumper? Bulldog? Or pitbull/mix? And why did McKamey remove 2 other dogs inside of a fenced in area. Story is kind of lacking...
Wonder how Officer Holmes explained this to his boss?
Because the owner was seen to be negligent and/or there was something very wrong with one or more of the dogs. And one of the dogs was dangerous enough to attack a car and the public. When there is more info available, I'm sure we'll get it. McKamey is doing their job, protecting the public and protecting the animal.
Bottom line is, wherever there is an animal problem, be sure humans are behind it.
PS: maybe the Officer was sleeping on the job...?
Maybe the dog had been on a chain for over 12 hours and was taking out his frustration...McKamey doesn't protect anything but its bank account, just saying...can't wait to see more info on this story. Maybe it'll be on Channel 9 or 12.
Tsk, tsk possum. You've been up on your tree limb sleeping for way too long. According to the story, no one but McKamey was able to subdue and capture a dog gone wild. Everyone looks after their bank account, even you, no?
If humans weren't so negligent and abusive of their animals, we wouldn't need the McKameys, now would we? But they are and we do, so McKamey has to do the dirty work. If you or I could do it better, we would, no? Now be a good little possum and go back to sleep...zzzzzz
What was this officer doing that he didn't hear his bumper being ripped off piece by piece? As far as I know, police cruisers aren't sound proof. From what I've read and heard from media reports on this story, this dog did not exhibit aggression towards people, only objects (particularly cars). So, why is this dog being held at McKamey waiting on a court date and possible euthanasia? It did not bite anyone. The photo of the dog in the paper shows its neck, which appears to be bloody & raw (rabies pole?). Pepper spray & taser? Really?! Also disappointed that the storyline reads 'attacking' the car. The title alone seems to make the dog out to be more aggressive than it is. It's a bulldog/pit bull that, for some unknown reason, viewed police cars (not people) as a big chew toy. McKamey stated that this dog has not shown any aggression towards people, as did his owner. I think that the officer was 'snoozing', maybe had the radio up too loud or something that caused him not to hear his bumper being pulled off in chunks. When he finally did become aware of something going on & got out to look around, I'm sure he was really ticked off at what he saw. So ticked off in fact that he pulled out the pepper spray and his taser. That's probably when the dog decided to run, and who could blame him? I would run from someone trying to hurt me too. Fining the owner, and making them pay for property damage should have been enough. This pup has been put through torture (Maced, tasered, raw neck (rabies pole?), incarcerated) because he made the police mad by being a young bulldog/pit bull that picked out the wrong chew toy. Send the owner the bill, give that officer a 5-hour energy drink to keep him awake and let the dog go.
