Richard Anderson

Richard Babb Anderson, 72, of Chattanooga, died on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at his residence.

He was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga, a graduate of The Bright School, The McCallie School and Auburn University, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, and completed graduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Virginia.

Richard served in the Air National Guard and was a member of First-Centenary United Methodist Church, where he attended the Morgan Sunday School Class. Richard was a former member of the Signal Mountain Golf and Country Club and the Chattanooga Golf and Country Club. He was a retired Executive with Wacker Chemical and had previously worked with various Textile and Chemical companies.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Anderson and Mary Ruth Babb Anderson.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Spratlin Anderson; sons, Michael A. Anderson and wife, Tracy, Chattanooga and C. David Anderson and wife, Cheryl, Florence, S.C.; sister, Jacquelyn Ingersoll, Ocean Shores, Wash.; and three grandchildren, Leslie Anne Anderson, Clayton M. Anderson and Jonathan David Anderson.

A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, March 13, at First-Centenary United Methodist Church with Dr. David Harr and Dr. Dwight Kilborne officiating.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to First-Centenary United Methodist Church, 419 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37402 or to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416.

Alonzo Brown, 55, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010 in the Nashville area.

Emma Cobbs

Emma L. Cobbs, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, March 8, 2010.

Mrs. Cobbs was an active member of New Life Seventh-day Adventist Church. She retired from UTC.

Survivors include: children, Laura Cobb DeSilva, Atlanta, Patricia Sales, Randall Cobb and Linda Barner; several grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a very special friend, Celestine Custer and a host of other relatives and friends.

Katie Cope

Katie Lee Cope, 86, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010.

She was a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Ms. Cope was a Charter Member of East Daisy Church of God and was very faithful in her attendance. She retired from Standard-Coosa-Thatcher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Drophia Cope; parents, Mansford and Ester Hale and seven brothers, Sherman Hale, Gene Hale, Haskell Hale, Carl Hale, J.C. Hale, Sidney Hale and Mark Hale.

She is survived by her son, Rev. Roy (Elaine) Cope; daughters, Lynda Moore, Pam (Terrell) Horton; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 2010, at East Daisy Church of God, with the Rev. Byron Henderson officiating.

Burial will follow in Hamilton County Memorial Park.

Visitation will be noon to 9 p.m. today and noon to 9 p.m. Saturday.

Lenora Daniels "Chicken" Fuller, 66, of Chattanooga, passed on Monday, March 8, 2010.

She leaves to cherish her memories, husband, Jerry Fuller; sons, Gerry, Earnest and Ricky Green; daughters, Rochelle Daniels and Rachel Green; stepdaughter, Michelle Fuller; sister, Pearlie Mae Green; sister-in-law, Mae Ratta McKebie; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; friends, Laura Jefferson, Mr. and Mrs. Jefferson; a devoted friend, Jereline Sanders; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

J.B. Henderson, 81, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010, in a local hospital.

Louise Thomas Jones, 87, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010 at a local hospital.

She was a faithful member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church serving on the Mother and Deaconess boards.

Survivors include her son, William L. (Kim E.) Thomas, of Las Vegas; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; three brothers, Zephyr Jr. (Armelia) and Leon (Yvonne) Williams, of Chattanooga, Robert (Dorothy) Williams, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Mary Covington and Bernice Freeman, of Chattanooga; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 13, 2010 at noon at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Whiteside officiating.

Shelvia W. Lawing, 84, Chattanooga, formerly of Fort Payne, Ala., died Thursday, March 11, 2010.

Irene Patterson

Lily Irene Patterson, 95, of Chattanooga, passed away March 10, 2010 following a brief illness.

Irene was born Aug. 3, 1914 in Fayetteville, Tenn., the eldest of five siblings.

She was a wonderful sister and loving aunt who will be remembered by those she leaves behind for her radiant smile, her positive attitude, and her strong Christian faith. She was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church in Woodmore before joining Brainerd Baptist Church 20 years ago.

She was preceeded in death by her parents, W. L. Patterson Sr. and Hattie Mae Hall Patterson; her sisters, Geneva Patterson Stonecipher and Daryl Patterson Norris; and her brother, Leon Patterson.

She is survived by her brother, W.L. Patterson Jr. (Maxine), of Huntsville, her sister-in-law, Evelyn Patterson, of Nashville; two nieces, Donna Norris Haddock (Lynn), of Chattanooga and Darlene Patterson Davis (Steve), of Huntsville; two nephews, Ken Roy (Cheryl), of Springfield and Dan A. Norris II, of Atlanta; and several beloved great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Over the past eight years, Irene has been blessed with many friends and loving caregivers at NHC of Chattanooga, and her family would like to offer their sincere thanks to the outstanding team there --especially to Mrs. Jamesetta Sexton and Ms. Rachel Simmons --two very special ladies whose loving care has far exceeded the call of duty for many years.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Beautiful Greenwood Cemetery, 2013 Greenwood Road, Chattanooga, TN 37406.

William Pursley

William Joe "Bill" Pursley, of Chattanooga, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, March 8, 2010.

He was in the care of Hospice of Chattanooga at NHC, Dunlap, Tenn.

Bill was born Feb. 13, 1953. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward J.L. Pursley; and his mother, Bessiephene Lewis Day.

He is survived by his brother Terry A. (Pat) Pursley, of Hixson; and his sister, Sharon P. (Jon) Whitehead, of Dalton, Ga. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Jason and Kathie Pursley, of Soddy-Daisy; Jennifer and John Stanton, of New York City; Julie and Jason Jones, of Chattanooga, Allison Whitehead, of Columbus, Ga.; and Dee Anna and Rob Demian, of Atlantic Highlands, N.J. He also has two great-nieces and several aunts and uncles.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 13, at 3 p.m. at Red Bank Church of Christ, followed by visitation with family in the Fellowship Hall.

Nina Jacqueline Rader, 73, of Hixson, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010, at a local hospital.

She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Grace Myers; sons, Michael Arch Rader, Melvin Dewayne Rader.

She is survived by her husband, George C. Rader; daughters, Cindy (Tim) Stover, of Soddy-Daisy, Tina Flannigan, of Hixson, Martha Mainord, of Soddy-Daisy; son-in-law, John Barats; brother, Robert Myers, of Red Bank; sister, Margie Wallisch, of Hixson; grandchildren, Alyssa Barats, Josh Stover, Justin Flannigan, Wesley Mainord, Angela Mainord; grammy's special friend; Madison Plunkett.

Norma Jean Revis, 78, of Chattanooga, passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2010.

She lived most of her life in the Chattanooga area and was of the Baptist faith. Jean worked at the 23rd Street Grill for many years and was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Rita Stewart and children, Dewey Gene and Beverly Ann Miners.

She is survived by her daughters, Cathy Hammack and Carol Hall; sons, James Revis and Michael Revis along with 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ray Wrinkle officiating.

Burial will follow at Chattanooga Memorial Park.

CLEVELAND -- Tom H. Biggs, 72, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010 in a local hospital.

He graduated from Polk County High School where he lettered in football, baseball and basketball. He attended the University of Tennessee in 1955 on a football scholarship and graduated in 1960. He retired as a board member with the Tennessee State Board of Parole. He was a longtime member of the Elks Club. He was a member of both the Cleveland Country Club and Lions Club for over 40 years. He was an avid Tennessee fan and avid golfer. He was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church and an active member of Congregational Care.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Broughton and Louise Higgins Biggs; and uncle, Burch Biggs.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Judy Biggs, of Cleveland; daughter, Holli Collins and husband, Joe, of Cleveland; grandchildren, Trent and Josie Collins, of Cleveland; sisters, JoAnn Crain and husband, Floyd, of Ripley, Tenn., and Mary Temple Stottlemyer and husband, David, of Sarasota, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 13, 2010, at 4 p.m. at Broad Street United Methodist Church with Pastor Reed Shell and Pastor Debbie Stokes officiating.

Interment will be held privately in Benton City Cemetery.

TRACY CITY -- Carl Robin Geary Sr., 55, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Thomas Geary and Nellie D. McBee.

Mr. Geary was an alderman for the town of Tracy City and was a mayoral candidate in the up-coming election. He was the owner-operator of Geary Trucking Co.

PIKEVILLE -- Lewis Wayne Sapp, 66, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 6, 2010, after a long battle with lung cancer.

Wayne Simpson

GRANDVIEW MOUNTAIN -- Wayne Anthony Simpson, 74, died early Thursday morning, March 11, 2010, at Rhea Medical Center.

Wayne was born on Feb. 29, 1936, the son of the late Claude and Margaret Shillings Simpson. He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Susie Robbins Simpson; and his daughter, Flora "Sissie" Simpson.

Wayne was a resident of Grandview Mountain for many years. He served his country with the U.S. Air Force retiring after 22 years. While in the USAF he worked as a boom operator and then an air traffic controller. He was a lifetime member of both the American Legion Post #203 in Spring City and the VFW Post in Crossville. Wayne was a member of the Lighthouse Senior Center in Spring City and was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by is wife of 32 years, Betty McBay Simpson; sons, Barry Simpson, Mike Simpson and Tommy Simpson, all of Grandview; his daughter, Robin Barcus, of Ohio; two sisters, Faye Bean, of Grandview and Carolyn Phelps, of Georgia; his brother, Donald Simpson, of Grandview and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Wayne will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Christian Fellowship Church on Grandview Mountain with the Rev. Steve Zimmerman and the Rev. Clyde Fitzgerald officiating.

The family will receive friends today from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Vaughn Funeral Home in Spring City. The body will also lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Graveside services with full military honors will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

DOUGLASVILLE -- James C. Llewellyn Sr., 90, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at his home in Douglasville.

He was born Nov. 17, 1919. He was the son of the late William and Martha Elizabeth Cantrell Llewellyn, of Chattanooga. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace Coleman Llewellyn.

Survivors include wife, Ereline Llewellyn, of Douglasville; five daughters, Joan Ashley, of East Ridge, Jean (Rocky) Leonhardt, of Clarksville, Tenn., Judy (J.W.) Johnson, of Rossville, Diane Frye, of Tennessee and Shanda Hayes, of Douglasville; four sons, James C. (Birdie) Llewellyn Jr., of Columbia, Tenn., Jerry (Judy) Llewellynn, George Sr. (Linda) Llewellynn and John Llewellyn, all of Rossville; 24 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

RINGGOLD -- Bonnie L. Newman, 92, died Thursday, March 11, 2010, at her residence.

She was formerly of Dearborn, Mich., before moving here in 1986. Mrs. Newman was retired from Detroit-Toledo-Ironton Railroad.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Newman.

Survivors include brother, Glenn Yarbrough, Phoenix, Ariz.; nieces, Jean Goodrich, Glenda Prescott, several other nieces and nephews.

Pam Hartman

GARLAND, Texas—Pam Hartman passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010, in Plano, Texas. She was born on Nov. 12, 1946, in Chattanooga, to George and Alvareen Hartman.

In her younger years she was very athletic enjoying swimming and dancing. Pam was a Legal Secretary for 22 years, before retiring. She enjoyed cooking, reading and watching movies. Following her retirement she spent countless hours gardening in her backyard and enjoying the flowers that bloomed. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Richardson, Texas since 1992.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her daughters, Pamela and her husband, Sean Sullivan, and Tina Hartman; one grandchild, Kieran Sullivan; and a brother, Doyle and his wife, Margaret Hartman.

Visitation was on Thursday, March 11, 2010 from 7-9 p.m. The Rosary was said at 8 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. today, March 12, 2010, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Richardson, Texas.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 10500 Steppington Drive #251, Dallas, TX 75230.
