When we think of Switzerland, we may recall the long-popular story of Heidi, who fictionally lived with her grandfather among the high mountains of that European country.
But if we think of "jihad" -- Muslim holy war -- it is not likely we would think of Switzerland at all.
But do you remember Moammar Gadhafi, the Libyan wild man whom we fortunately had not had reason to think of at all until recently?
Well, characteristically, Gadhafi has been back in the news by saying, "Let us wage jihad against Switzerland."
Why in the world would Gadhafi suggest a holy war against, of all places, Switzerland?
Well, Gadhafi has noted that Switzerland has banned the construction of minarets in Switzerland, and so he has called for his new anti-Swiss crusade.
It's just another reminder of the irrational and dangerous nature of the Libyan ruler. Unfortunately, he just won't let us forget or ignore him.
