Watching video three times hardly a charm for Fulmer
KNOXVILLE — University of Tennessee Phillip Fulmer addressed media this morning for the first time since watching film of his team’s 27-24, overtime loss at UCLA on Monday morning.
Understandably, Fulmer didn’t sound pleased during his portion of the weekly Southeastern Conference coaches’ teleconference.
“Well, obviously we’re not happy today,” Fulmer said. “We did not play well.”
Fulmer said he’s watched every snap of Monday’s game at least three times.
“Effort was there, but we were our own worst enemies,” he said. “It certainly wasn’t the start that we wanted or anticipated. We didn’t take advantage of our opportunities and let UCLA hang around until we got beat.”
Fulmer said sophomore cornerback Dennis Rogan “pulled or strained a muscle in his side” against the Bruins. He didn’t return to the game, but his injury isn’t thought to be too serious.
The Vols are scheduled to start practice at 4:30 p.m., and they’ll work again Thursday before relaxing during an off-weekend.
UT’s Sept. 13 home opener against UAB is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on Raycom television.
