Vivian Barbee
Vivian “Bill” Barbee, 72, of Soddy-Daisy, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 14, 2008.
She attended Miracle Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Barbee.
She is survived by her daughter, Wanda and husband, Jimmy Elsea; son, Larry and wife, Donna Barbee; sisters, Faynette Kerns, Dorothy Rea Barbee; brothers, Wade, Buddy, Raymond and Alan Kerns; grandchildren, Teresa Barbee, Michael and Jeffery Elsea, Jennifer Lawson; eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Brother Kenneth Conaway officiating.
Interment will follow in Hamilton County Memorial Park.
Family will receive friends from 2-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Roland Bradley, 64, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, in a local hospital.

William Brymer
William D. Brymer, 72, of Hixson, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008.
Bill was born on Oct. 19, 1935 in Belmont, N.C.
He was raised in Fieldale, Va., where he was active in the Boy Scouts and earned an Eagle Scout designation. He then attended The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., where he received a B.S. in business administration and was a Gold Star Student.
Bill served in the Army National Guard following graduation and was employed by DuPont. He worked in Martinsville, Va., and Wilmington, Del., before retiring from DuPont’s Hixson manufacturing facility.
He served as a commissioner of the Hixson Utility District for many years and on various other local community boards. He was a member of Hixson United Methodist Church.
Bill coached in various youth football, basketball, and baseball programs throughout his life. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Valleybrook Golf and Country Club and also taught in local youth golf clinics.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Dewey Brymer and Pauline Kirksey Brymer, of Fieldale, Va.; and his brother, Alan Leslie Brymer, of Virginia Beach, Va.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Hawkins Brymer; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Judith Brymer, of Ringgold, Ga., and their children, Alex and Lauren Brymer; son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Tay Brymer, of Hixson; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Jack Lucas, of Fieldale, Va.; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews in Virginia, North Carolina and Utah.
Bill is a beloved father, husband and friend. He will be dearly missed and remembered always.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 17, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Longmire officiating.
Burial will be at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Dorothy Duff
Dorothy C. Duff, 85, of Chattanooga, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at her home. Dorothy passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
She was a long time member of White Oak Baptist Church and the Saved to Serve Class. Dorothy was the wife of the late Hoyt Powell Duff.
Survivors include her three daughters, Marie Hood, of Chattanooga, Janice (Gary) Sloan, of Marietta, Ga., and Carolyn Duff (fiancé Jonathan W. Boze), of Woodstock, Ga.; three sisters, Audrey (Marvin) Conner, Norene (John) Jackson and Imogene (Jack) Kinser, all of Chattanooga; one brother, Dr. H. Doyle (Sharon) Chauncey, of Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lane Funeral Home, Coulter Chapel, with the Rev. Stan Braley and Dr. H. Doyle Chauncey officiating.
Interment will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
Brett Jackson, Scott White, Gary Sloan, Johnathan A. Boze, Matthew Stephens and Tom Kinser will serve as pallbearers.

Harold Echart
Leslee Harold Echart, 84, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2008, in a local hospital.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of First-Centenary United Methodist Church, participated in the church choir and the hand bell choir. He had served as a Sunday school teacher in previous churches. He received his masters in political science from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and retired as a teacher from McCallie School.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther A. and Johnnye Higdon Echart, and his first wife, Ada Lou Echart.
Survivors include his wife, Inda Echart; daughter, Jane Wilson, and husband, Richard, of Chattanooga; son, Bill Echart, of Cleveland, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Becky Wilson and Paul Wilson, both of Chattanooga; and sister, Doris Jane, and husband, Les Stratton, of Texarkana, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. today at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 404 S. Moore Road with Dr. David Harr officiating.

Rodney Allen “The Frog” Honeycutt, 65, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2008, in a local hospital.
He was born May 21, 1942, to the late William Clay and Effie Smith Honeycutt.
He is survived by his daughter, Kellye Denise Cavett, of Orlando, Fla.; son, Jeff Honeycutt, of Chattanooga; sister, Louann Voyles, of Oakdale, Tenn.; brother, Eddie Honeycutt, of Hixson; and five grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held today at 3 p.m. at the East Brainerd Chapel with Chaplain John McCarty officiating.

Michael Hullander
Michael L. Hullander, 44, of Ooltewah, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008.
Mr. Hullander was a life resident of Ooltewah and was of the Baptist faith. He was employed with Ooltewah Electric Co. and was a son of the late C. L. Hullander.
Survivors include his mother, Molly S. Hullander Joiner; son, Michael Hullander; two daughters, Jessica Patton, of Wachula, Fla., and Makayla Hullander, of Ooltewah; four brothers, Wayne Hullander, of Apison, Ronnie Hullander, Junior Hullander and Eugene Hullander, all of Ooltewah; two sisters, Mary (Richard) Burton, of Ooltewah, and Bobbie (Kent) Yates, of Dalton; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Kesley officiating.
Interment will be in Lee Cemetery.

Dr. Noel Hunt III
Dr. Noel C. Hunt III, M.D., died peacefully Thursday, May 15, 2008, at his home surrounded by his family.
A longtime resident of Chattanooga, Dr. Hunt was a graduate of McCallie School and received his BA degree and medical degree from Vanderbilt University, Nashville. He served medical residencies at Vanderbilt and Duke University Medical Center where he completed his cardiology fellowship. He was a founding member of the Chattanooga Heart Institute. Dr. Hunt was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was the son of the late Dr. Noel C. Hunt Jr. and Constance Wilson Hunt.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Wilson Hunt Triplett.
Survivors are his wife, Trisha Jolley Hunt; three children, Dr. Noel McReynolds Hunt and wife, Stephanie, of Mount Pleasant, S.C., Dr. Peter McLain Hunt and wife, Kathleen, of Chattanooga, and Claire Hunt McVay and husband, Wyatt, of Chattanooga; one brother, William Hunt, of Chattanooga; stepdaughters, Wendi Thompson and Aimee Belt, both of Chattanooga; 10 grandchildren; and one niece.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 17, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with the Hon. and Rev. Samuel H. Payne officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Norman Thomas, Paul Kelly, Howell Clements, Smith Murray, Tom Kale, Joe Wilson and Bob Berglund.

Timo Ivey
Timothy B. “Timo” Ivey, 27, a resident of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2008.
A loving husband and proud father, he was the successful owner and operator of Ivey League Dry Wall and Remodeling. Timo was a T-Ball and football coach at the Middle Valley ballfields and was recently named the T-Ball Coach of the Year.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Thomas Franklin Ivey.
Survivors include his wife, Kari Ivey; four children, Jake and Sarah Ivey, Madison and Will Davis; mother, Martha Ivey; father and stepmother, John and Brenda Ivey; brothers, Jonathon (Sheryl), David, Kenny (Heather), Daniel (Mary), Michael and Aaron Ivey; sisters, Jennifer (Kevin) Fite and Angie Ivey; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Ivey; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Rosie Johnson; and 10 nieces and nephews.

Mable Linn
Mable Self Linn, 92, of Hixson, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2008.
Born May 28, 1915, at Rocky Face, Ga., she was a resident of Signal Mountain for 40 years. She retired from the Chattanooga public school system after 28 years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Chattanooga and the Mary Class for 60 years.
She was preceeded in death by parents, Judson Self and Carrie W. Self; brother, Ervin Self; and her husband of 60 years, John Edward Linn.
She is survived by one son, John Ervin Linn; special friend, Ronald D. Moses, of Athens, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews; and many friends and neighbors. She was a kind Christian woman with a gentle nature who will be sorely missed by so many.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Chapel of Devotion at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Dr. Gary Carver officiating.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Judy Verdon
Judy Anne Verdon, 64, of Birchwood, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2008.
She was born June 5, 1943, to John and Melba Childress in Chattanooga. She was a member of Meigs County Church of Christ. She retired from Parkridge Medical Center in 2006 after 17 years of service as a medical secretary.
She was preceded in death by daughters, Melba Ann Sherlin and Kimberly Sherlin Manis, and her parents, John and Melba Childress.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Earl “Butch” Verdon; two sons and daughter-in-laws, Edward “Jody” and (Diane) Sherlin, of Cohutta, and Scott (Tracy) Sherlin, of East Ridge; grandchildren, Dustin and Staci Sherlin, of East Ridge, Jesse Manis, of Georgetown, Spencer Manis, of Ooltewah, Randy and Johnny McKeehan, of Cohutta; great-grandchildren, Calli McKeehan, of Cohutta, and Justin Cooley, of Ooltewah; one sister, Sue Childress Smith, of Georgetown; one brother and sister-in-law, Clyde “Ted” (Lisa) Childress, of Georgetown; nieces, Susan “Boshie” Smith-May and Jennifer Ware, of Georgetown; great-nieces, Buffi May, of Georgetown and Autumn May Stephens, of Ooltewah; and great-great-nieces and great-nephews, Sage and Loden May, Chase and Eris Stephens.

Geneva Vickery, 90, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Parkside Nursing Home.
She was of the Church of Christ faith, lived in Walnut Grove, Ala., before moving to Chattanooga.

Frank Williams
Frank W. Williams, 87, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2008, at a local hospital.
Mr. Williams was born in Hinkle, Ga., to Rayford and Addie Price Williams. He was a very devoted member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. Mr. Williams retired as the SE District Manager for Bell Telephone where he worked his entire career. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army-Air Corps serving as a staff sergeant during World War II with the 49th Fighter Control Squadron and received two Bronze Stars.
Survivors include his three sons, Dennis and his wife, Sue Williams, of Dallas, Texas, Wayne and his wife, Jan Williams, of Chattanooga, and L.T. Williams and his wife, Terrie, of Chattanooga; and grandsons, Steve and Barrett Williams.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Williams, and his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Sam Williams
C.S. “Sam” Williams, 89, formerly of Chattanooga, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Nashville.
He was born Oct. 19, 1918, the son of the late Lena Belle and Sam Williams of Andrews, N.C.
He was a longtime member of St. Elmo Church of Christ and was retired from TVA, and a founding member of Chattanooga Woodcarvers. His greatest joys were his church, his granddaughter and trout fishing.
Survivors are his son, Tommy Williams, of Nashville; daughter, Pamela Williams, of Murfreesboro; granddaughter, April Lewis; and two great-grandsons, Michael Lewis and Devon Lewis, all of Ooltewah.
Funeral services will be held today at 10:30 a.m. at Wann Funeral Home with Minister John T. Smithson officiating.
Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Fred Worth Sr.
Fred J. Worth Sr., 90, of Hixson, died Wednesday evening, May 14, 2008, at his daughter’s resident.
A lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, he was a charter member of the St. Jude Catholic Church and was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, Wiley School of Business and Class #12 Dale Carnegie Course. He was retired from U.S. Pipe & Foundry with 41 years of service and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Air Force. Serving over three years in the Air Force, he also served six months with the 8th Air Force in England, flying 32 combat missions over Germany, France, Belgium and Holland. He was also served in the D-Day invasion of France on June 6, 1944. He received the 4-AIR medals, The Distinguished Flying Cross and several B battle stars. All of the crew returned home safely. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the VFW.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Helen Worth.
Survivors include two sons, Fred J. Worth Jr., of Hixson, and Richard A. Worth, of Walnut, Calif.; one daughter, Peggy A. St. Hilaire, of Sweetwater, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Oscar Brown
GRUETLI-LAAGER — Oscar Brown, 92, died Thursday, May 15, 2008.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Sewanee Lodge 405 F&AM, the manager of the Grundy County Farmers Coop for 27 years and worked in the Coalmines in his younger years.
He was born on Aug. 11, 1915, to George and Nora Dent Brown who preceded him in death along with his brothers, Delbert, Charles and Frank Brown.
He is survived by sister, Dorothy Savage, of Palmer; brother, Leo (Mary) Brown, of Dalton, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. CDT Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Brother Ray Gomer officiating.
Burial to follow in Swiss Colony Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation is after 2 p.m. CDT today at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tenn.
Benton Gallagher
PELHAM — Benton Clay Gallagher, 84, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at his residence.
A native of Pelham, he was a farmer.
Survivors include daughter, Tressie Jo (John) Kennedy, of Pelham; sons, Bobby (Sheila) Gallagher, Jerry Dale Gallagher and Kenny (Tammie) Gallagher, all of Pelham; sisters, Tine (Roy Jr.) Smith, of Decherd, Tenn., Dean Gallagher and Virginia Gipson; brother, Jim Gallagher, all of Pelham; eight grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, Joseph Gallagher and Aubrey Patton Gallagher; wife, Cleora Gallagher; and brother, Clark Gallagher.
Funeral is at 11 a.m. CDT today at Good Shepherd church.

Rosie Green
TRACY CITY — Rosie Leona Green, 92, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 14, 2008.
She was born July 30, 1915, to Francis Marion Shrum and Nancy Adeline Caldwell.
She gave her life to Christ as a teenager, and joined Harrison Chapel Methodist Church in Sewanee, Tenn. For most of her life she attended Myers Hill Congressional Methodist Church in Tracy City.
She was, preceded in death by her husband, Paul Green, from Sewanee, and her daughter, Betty Lucille Singleton, of Coalmont, and Willie Clarence “Bob” Green, of Coal Valley, Ill.
She is survived by two sons, Paul Richard Green, of Monteagle, and Douglas Eugene (Faye) Green, of Manchester; two daughters, Mary Louise Green, of Sequatchie. Tenn., and Peggy Darlene (Steve) Winton, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Eileen Green, of Coal Valley, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, Earl and David Green, Tim and Ricky Seals, Rhonda Heitt, Brad, Eric and LaVaughn Green, Cameron and Katie Winton; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Steve Winton officiating.

Mary Rothwell
PHILADELPHIA — Mary Ruth Rymer Rothwell passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2008.
Mary was born Aug. 22, 1925, to Frank and Edith Colbaugh Rymer in Chattanooga. She was raised in Decatur, Tenn., and graduated from Meigs County Consolidated High School, Class of 1943. She attended Baroness Erlanger School of Nursing and graduated in 1947. Her postgraduate work was done at John Hopkins in Baltimore, Md. She worked at Baptist in Knoxville and in October 1955, she went to work at the Lowry Henshaw Hospital Association in Sweetwater where she stayed until it’s closing in 1977.
Mary retired from nursing following her service at Woods Convalescent Home in Sweetwater. She was extremely proud of her profession and you sure could tell she was a “nurse.” Mary was a faithful member of Philadelphia First Baptist Church for over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother in-law, Raymond Halter.

Funeral services was at 7 p.m. Thursday at Philadelphia First Baptist Church, the Rev. Richard Turbeyville and the Rev. Brian Courtney officiating.
The family will travel to Decatur Cemetery today for a 2 p.m. interment service in Decatur, Tenn.
Serving as pallbearers, Travis Kelley, Colton Woody, James Harrison, Steve Allmon, Doug Galyon and Charlie Hitson.
Honorary pallbearers are the deacons of First Baptist and the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class.

William Gann
ROSSVILLE — William “Brownie” Anderson Gann, 76, departed this life Wednesday, May 14, 2008.
He was born in Hamilton County to the late Walter and Hannah Edmondson Gann and was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Gann.
Survivors include his daughters and son-in-laws, Pamela and Larry Waller, of Hixson, Tena and Bobby Reynolds, of Rossville, Cathy and Wade Tate, of Chickamauga; sister, Hattie Lewis, of Harpersville, Ala.; grandchildren, Amanda Nail, Sara Reynolds, Stacy Gooden and Anthony Waller; great-grandchildren, Aidan and Owen Gooden and Bryson Waller; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, May 16, 2008, in the chapel with the Rev. Wayne Moody officiating.
Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Family will receive friends prior to the service today.

Marie Johnson
ROSSVILLE — Marie Lou Johnson, 90, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2008, at a local hospital.
She was a member of South Seminole Baptist Church and was retired from McAllister Mills after 25 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Johnson.
Surviving relatives: sister, Nelda (David) Pettyjohn, of Chattanooga; brothers, Hoyt R. (Violet) Young, of Ooltewah, and Paul (Delores) Young, of Ider, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Perry officiating.
The interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

FORT OGLETHORPE — Wofford Dennis Pace, 62, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2008.
He was born in Fort Payne, Ala., to the late Olvin Dennis Pace and Didema Wilson Pace. He was a native of Fort Payne, Ala., and had resided in Fort Oglethorpe for several years. He was a former member of the Fort Oglethorpe Kiwanis Club and the Fire Department. He was of the Baptist faith and had resided in East Ridge for the past three years. He enjoyed playing golf and he served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a former employee of McDowell Materials, Stone-Man, Dalton Paving Co. and Road-Tec.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy Lloyd Pace and Paul Leonard Pace.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Shauna and Nathan Tabor; son and daughter-in-law, Bo and Amy Pace; grandchildren, Bethany and Hannah Tabor, Taylor, Shan, Bryant and Braleah Pace, all of Chickamauga, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 17, 2008.

DALTON —Claudelle Robertson Hill Tucker, of Orange Park, Fla., and formerly of Dalton, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 14, 2008.
She was the daughter of the late Will and Nell Baxter Robertson and was preceded in death by her husbands, J.B. Hill Jr. and John H. Tucker; brothers, Baxter Robertson, Houston Robertson; and sister, Elaine Fandrich.
Claudelle is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Susan Hill, of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; grandchildren, Wimberly and Brad Brackett, of Orange Park, Fla., Jay and Leah Hill, of Chattanooga; great-grandchildren, who were the loves of her life, Wyatt Brackett and Georgia Grace Brackett; brother, Jack Robertson of LaFayette, Ga.; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Dewey Fleming officiating.
Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery.

Norma Winget
RINGGOLD — Norma Lee Winget, 77, went home from her earthly dwelling to be with her Savior on Tuesday morning, May 13, 2008.
She was born in Chattanooga on June 23, 1930, and grew up in Alton Park and Rock Spring, Ga., the eldest daughter of George and Eva Hicks, and one of seven siblings (one of whom, Harry, preceded Norma to heaven on Monday).
She graduated from LaFayette High School and Tennessee Temple University. She faithfully accomplished her calling as a wife, mother, and homemaker and was a member of Grace Baptist on Shallowford Road.
Norma now waits to welcome her husband of 56 years, Dr. David Winget; one daughter, Joy Smotherman, of Ringgold; three sons, Steve, of Budapest, Hungary, David, of Kharkov, Ukraine, and Phillip, of Ringgold; a son-in-law and three daughters-in-law; one sister and her family; nine grandchildren; and one grandson-in-law.
The funeral service will be held at Grace Baptist Church on Shallowford Road on Saturday, May 17, at 2 p.m. with Dr. Steve Euler presiding.
The body will lie in state from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church or Hospice of Chattanooga.
