Baylor’s Tyler Massey earned his 11th pitching win and went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and three RBIs. Teammates Dylan Craig and James Feher each added two hits, while Craig also scored two runs.

“I’m proud that we were able to beat BGA,” Baylor coach Gene Etter said. “They are a good team and they were in our state tournament last year. We had to face their No. 1 pitcher, and they had to face ours too. The combination of Tyler Massey’s pitching and hitting were huge for us.”

* Brentwood Academy 6, McCallie 4: The Blue Tornado were relegated to the fourth seed in the region and will play Christian Brothers in Memphis in the sub-state round Friday. Brentwood Academy scored their six runs on 11 hits. The Blue Tornado’s Stuart Voges and Guerrin Higgins each had two hits; Higgins also batted in a run.

GPS’s Megan Wagner limited the Lady Knights to three hits. She did not allow a walk and had three strikeouts.

Jessica Phillips and Kamri Chester hit consecutive two-RBI singles in the third inning, and Chester’s three-run home run capped a four-run fourth. Phillips’ two-run homer with one out in the bottom of the sixth ended it.

Tory Lewis was 3-for-4 and scored three runs for GPS.

* Baylor 4, Father Ryan 0: At GPS, Claire Hufstetler pitched a two-hitter and Caitlin Sutherland drove in all the runs in the Lady Red Raiders’ win. Hufstetler had seven strikeouts and overcame six walks.

Braleigh Angel led off the game for Baylor (17-14) with a single. With one out, coach Kelli Smith had Sam Everett sacrifice and Sutherland made the strategy work with a run-scoring single. Sutherland added a three-run home run in the third inning.

Nina Davenport paced a nine-hit attack for Baylor (17-14) with three.
