University of Tennessee at Chattanooga alum gets LA Times post

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga alumnus Davan Maharaj was recently named managing editor of the Los Angeles Times.

He was the editor of the UTC student newspaper in 1988. He graduated from UTC in 1989, a double major in political science and communication, according to the university.

Mr. Maharaj was the Times business editor since February 2007, and in his new post is charged with further integrating the print and Web story pipelines.

The Los Angeles Times is the largest metropolitan daily newspaper in the country, with a daily readership of 2.2 million and 3.2 million on Sunday, and a combined print and interactive weekly audience of 4.8 million.
