FUNDRAISER

CREATIVE DISCOVERY Museum’s “Amuse”Um fundraiser drew the biggest crowd in its 12-year history with first-time attendees making up 200 of 700 people on hand, officials said.

“All those new faces helped push the total brought in over $160,000. That’s our highest total ever,” Sharman Sherfey, director of development and public relations for Creative Discovery Museum, said in a news release.

The museum was decked out as a giant 3-D Monopoly game, tying in to the Museum’s current Money Ville exhibit that continues through May 4, Ms. Sherfey said.

“Guests entered through giant dice and passed through room after room of Monopoly-themed activities and entertainment. Some guests got a chance to go inside the Money Machine and grab as much cash as they could while it blew around inside the clear plastic box,” the information noted.

Among those present were Barry and Alexis Bogo, Zan and Julie Guerry, Andy and Monique Berke, Keith and Julia Sanford, Alan and Alison Lebovitz, Josiah and April Roe, Mitch and Parul Patel, Ward and Ashley Davenport, Elliott and Rebecca Davenport, Michael Neely, Josh and Christy McManus and Helen Johnson.

Volunteer organizers were led by Hamp and Jenny Johnston, who served as co-chairs of “Amuse”Um 2008. Other committee chairs were John Arthur, Camille Daniel, Alexis Bogo, Catharine Daniels, Suzanne Maxwell, April Watson, Sarah Ramsey, Ashley Davenport and Phil and Debi Waites.

HEARD ON THE TOWN

CHATTANOOGA native Alan Pressley is known for his generous donations of memorabalia shadow boxes given to organizations and individuals. Recently, Mr. Pressley and his fellow Carpenter’s 74 members donated to UTC Lady Mocs Coach Wes Moore a box commemorating the UT Lady Vols and Lady Mocs game held earlier this year in Knoxville.

The presentation took place at Big River Grille & Brew Works during the NCAA women’s tournament selection party. On hand were Roger Graham and Mickey Kilgore with Carpenter’s 74, Coach Moore and Rick Hart, UTC athletic director.
