Hamilton County names teachers of the year

Three Hamilton County teachers have been selected as the best in their field and the system’s 2008 teachers of the year, officials announced today.

Jeff Paulson, lead literacy teacher at Thrasher Elementary, is the elementary representative. Janet Smith, a seventh-grade language arts teacher, comes from Loftis Middle, and Elizabeth Renneisen represents high school instructors as an English teacher from Tyner Academy.

The three teachers will be treated to a limousine ride to the Chattanoogan Hotel for a special recognition luncheon Monday.

Stacey Roddy, Hamilton County’s director of elementary math and science, who coordinates the awards, said she was proud of all the award winners.

“We are very happy to be able to honor our best and brightest teachers for their dedication to our students,” Ms. Roddy said. “These three educators have dedicated themselves to our community’s youth and they deserve this recognition and so much more.”
