Tennessee: One injured when personal watercraft collide

One woman was injured when two personal watercraft collided on the Tennessee River near the Olgiati Bridge on Friday night, officials said.

The collision occurred around 9 p.m. The unidentified 20-year-old female personal watercraft operator suffered a severe leg fracture and broken ribs, said Capt. Wade Batson of the Hamilton County EMS.

There were two other adult men involved in the crash, but Bruce Garner, spokesman for the Chattanooga Fire Department, said apparently one of the men was a passenger on one of the crafts but he didn’t have any other details.

Neither of those men required medical attention, Mr. Garner said.

Comments

Kudos to the captain and crew of the "Southern Belle" who aborted in-progress docking procedures to approach the accident scene and provided vital aid, lighting, and assistance to police/rescue personnel safely removing the victim from the water.
