We’ve arrived at the Ramada in Bloomington, Minn., Convention home for the Tennessee Delegation. The drive up was great — we saw a number of places we'll stop on the trip home. The Lincoln Museum and home site in Springfield, Ill., is a must for us Republicans. I've been there when I was 9 or 10, but Pam hasn't been there before.
Buffalo Bill's museum (around Davenport, Iowa) would be fun to see — my daughter and I had a few parts in “Annie Get Your Gun” (Buffalo Bill ran the Wild West Show in which she starred) at St. Luke's Methodist Church a couple of years ago and that would be interesting to see. Robert Frost and Herbert Hoover also have homes/museums up this way.
Around Mason, Iowa, we saw windmill farms like those being touted by T. Boone Pickens. One of the upcoming receptions is by a sun and wind coalition. These windmills would be really tough on Don Quixote!
The best road sign we saw was for a town in southern Minnesota off I-35: “Clinton Falls.” I love “Operation Chaos”!
