Chattanooga Beer and Wrecker Board takes action against Gant

Included in this article

The Chattanooga Beer and Wrecker Board today voted to suspend Gant Motors from two rotations of district wreckers after owner Winston Gant released a vehicle with a hold on it.

Officers said Mr. Gant towed and sold a vehicle that needed authorization by police for release, a violation of city ordinance. The vehicle had a hold on it because police thought it was a stolen vehicle.

Mr. Gant said he checked databases to see if the vehicle was stolen and when it did not register stolen, obtained possession of it and sold it.

About five or six wreckers are on each district’s list and Gant Motors will not receive a call to tow a vehicle until after the list has been run through twice.

See tomorrow’s Times Free Press for complete details.
